EFY 2012 CD – Available Before EFY – for the First Time Ever
EFY is a rite of passage for the LDS youth. The dances, the friends, hugs and yes, the music. Even as a missionary I listened to an EFY CD almost every day. The songs are uplifting and tend to focus on building up your sense of self and being loved. This EFY CD is no different. And for the first time ever, you can buy the EFY 2012 CD or downloads BEFORE EFY begins. Until this year you had to wait until after EFY begun to hear it.
Sometimes music is the only way we can reach our youth. They’ll listen to the words of a song and let the message sink into their hearts even when they tune out the words of their parents.
The songs are original songs written just for this CD. My favorite songs are Glorious (link goes to the lyrics), I Feel my Savior’s Love (sung in a way you’ve never heard that is so lilting and pure) and See it in Everyone. Glorious was written by Stephanie Mabey and sung by Russ Dixon. You can listen to samples here.
“There are times when you might feel aimless…but you will find there is a purpose…and when you’re near it you can almost hear it…
It’s like a symphony, just keep listening…there are melodies in each one of us, oh it’s glorious.”
David Osmond sings the title track, Arise and Shine Forth. It’s inspired by the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 115:5 – “Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations.” Two of the songs were written or sung by missionaries just before they left for their missions.
We think the EFY 2012 makes the ideal gift for the graduating senior, missionaries, or before sending your kids off to college (we won’t tell if you’re over 30 and listen to it in the car). The EFY CD has songs that are an uplifting alternative to what you hear on the radio. Speaking of radio – the songs from the CD are being played right now on yourLDSradio. You can listen to online or on our official iPhone or Android app. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Be sure to LIKE yourLDSradio on Facebook for a chance to win an EFY CD. In the meantime, check out EFYMusic.com for sheet music and past year’s EFY CDs.
