Sweet Is the Work

by Linda Garner

‘Often, the answer to our prayer does not come while we’re on our knees,’ said President Uchtdorf, ‘but while we’re on our feet serving the Lord and serving those around us.’ We had some of those family problems that hadn’t yielded to fasting and prayer.  So our hearts rejoiced at the thought that serving a mission might bring the blessings we longed for.

Tell us about your mission! We love comments.

Gratitude for the Wayward Child

by Linda Garner

We may not understand why our children wander when we raised them in the gospel. Many parents feel guilt and shame and wonder where they went wrong.  Those with a wandering child can feel intense pain from  feeling the fabric of their eternal families being torn.

But letting go of pain and control allows us to trust Heavenly Father’s plan. Our Father has a plan for all His children, even our wandering children.

How do you trust in the Lord’s timing when a child has strayed from the gospel? We appreciate your comments.

Next Year for Sure: A Christmas Miracle

by Linda Garner

I smoothed the familiar fabric and put it away yet another time.  This was the third Christmas I had given up on making Christmas pajamas.  With seven children, it was difficult to find time for sewing, especially for sewing in secret.  Christmas was always hectic, making it hard to get around to special projects.  Next Christmas for sure, I always said.

How do you keep the spirit of Christ in Christmas? Have you had a special Christmas miracle in your life? We’d love your comments.

Gratitude Unlocks the Fullness of Life

by Linda Garner

What will I let go of this autumn?  Some of my baggage is old and familiar.  Shall I be done with it at last?  Is it time to move on?  Can I let it go, like softly falling leaves, and allow it to gather at my feet, where I can sweep it up and carry it out?

We welcome your comments.

We can relate to the stories we’re portraying in the newsletter today simply because we’ve all been able to share the gospel with somebody during our lives, or hope that our children would remember the teachings we’ve imparted to them, or at some time or another had a misunderstanding with a friend. Welcome to the Neighborhood News

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.
